American Heritage’s Greg Bryant probably woke up today feeling the same as he did yesterday, but according to one major recruiting website, he’s a whole new player.

Bryant (5-11, 197) was named a five-star recruit by Rivals.com in its latest batch of rankings, released Monday. The senior was deemed the No. 14 prospect in the nation and the No. 2 running back, behind Richmond (Va.) Hermitage senior Derrick Green.

Bryant had 2,180 yards and 25 touchdowns last season, carrying American Heritage to the Class 3A state title. He is being recruited by South Carolina, Auburn and Oklahoma, among numerous top programs.

As always, recruiting rankings are subjective (and essentially meaningless). We present them here for your potential entertainment.

For example, Glades Day’s Kelvin Taylor (5-11, 216), who is ranked as the country’s top running back by ESPN and 247Sports, is ranked by Rivals No. 9 among running backs and the 47th-best prospect overall.

ESPN has Taylor at No. 22 in the nation. 247Sports has him 17th.

ESPN has Bryant at No. 30 in the nation. 247Sports has him 79th.

Bryant is ESPN’s No. 2 running back, behind Taylor. 247Sports ranks him No. 8 among running backs.

Update: On Tuesday, Rivals released the rest of its top 250 rankings.

Big Centennial defensive lineman Jay-nard Bostwick (6-4, 290) is ranked No. 135 nationally.

Glades Central triple threat Will Likely (5-7, 175) is No. 194.
